【猴子捞月(英语故事)】Once upon a time, in a quiet village surrounded by tall trees and a calm river, there lived a group of curious monkeys. They loved to play and explore the world around them. One evening, as the sun was setting and the sky turned golden, the monkeys gathered near the riverbank.
While they were playing, one of the younger monkeys pointed up at the sky and shouted, “Look! There’s a moon in the water!”
The other monkeys looked up and saw a bright, round moon reflected on the surface of the river. It looked just like the real moon above. The young monkey was excited and said, “Let’s go get it! We can take it back to our tree and have it with us every night.”
The idea sounded fun, so the monkeys decided to try. They climbed down from their branches and ran to the river. But when they reached the edge, they realized that the moon in the water was just an image — a reflection. No matter how hard they tried to reach it, it kept moving away.
One monkey tried to jump into the water, but he quickly found out that the moon wasn’t really there. Another monkey tried to use a branch to grab it, but the water made the reflection blurry. They all tried different ways, but nothing worked.
As the night grew longer, the monkeys became tired and confused. Finally, an older monkey spoke up. “The moon is not in the water. It is high in the sky. What we see is just a mirror of the real moon.”
The younger monkeys listened and finally understood. They stopped trying to catch the reflection and went back to their home in the trees. From that day on, they learned that not everything that looks real is actually real. Sometimes, what we see is just a shadow or a trick of the light.
And so, the story of the monkeys and the moon was told again and again, reminding everyone to think carefully before acting.
