幽默的英文小故事
Once upon a time, there was a man named Tom who loved to tell jokes. He thought he was the funniest person in town and decided to prove it at the local talent show.
The day of the competition arrived, and Tom was nervous but confident. When his turn came, he stepped onto the stage with a big smile and began telling his favorite joke. It was about a dog walking into a bar and ordering a beer. The bartender looked at him and said, "Sorry, we don't serve dogs here."
The audience laughed politely, but Tom didn't stop there. He went on to explain how the dog felt rejected and decided to open his own bar for animals. As he continued talking, the laughter faded away, replaced by awkward silence.
After the show, Tom approached the judge, eager for feedback. "Why didn't they laugh more?" he asked. The judge replied gently, "Tom, your joke was funny, but you told it too fast. People need time to process the humor."
Feeling determined, Tom practiced slowing down his delivery. A few weeks later, he entered another contest. This time, he told the same joke but paused dramatically after each line. The audience erupted in laughter, and Tom won first prize!
From then on, Tom learned an important lesson: sometimes, less is more when it comes to humor. And while he still loved cracking jokes, he made sure to let others enjoy them at their own pace.
And so, Tom became not just the funniest man in town, but also one of the wisest.
